CHELSEA [ Old-1994 ] SHED-END newsletter for expatriate real Chelsea fans worldwide, SW6: Editor Geoff's local SW6 haunts:  "Chateau 6" [ was 'White Hart' pub, Fulham Broadway ], and Pappa Ciccia's restaurants. Page dedicated to ex-Chelsea Chairman Brian Mears & family. [ Est. Gus Mears, 1905 ]. Editor: G. E. Dixon-Hamilton ( 50 year Shed-End fan 1957-2008 ). Ed. No. 01262. ( 31.08.):  Chelsea ( 1 )  vs Spurs( 1 ) ( Tottenham ) 47,000+
It's that time again ! First major local derby under the new manager. Ever since I worked at Derwent Publications in the 1970s / 80s, and the company chairman Monty Hyams was a dedicated Spurs supporter have I come to loath Spurs as well as during my apprenticeship years at The Daily Herald in the 1950s-62. Spurs have emptied their stable and await new talent to bolster their strike force. Chelsea have filled their's, and await even further high calibre talent. Squad: Terry(c), Cech(g), Lampard (VC), Carvalho, Beletti, Anelka, Ashley Cole, Joe Cole, Boswinga, Essien, Deco. No Ballack, Drogba. Chelsea set-off at pace. Essien shot off the bar. GOAL !! Midfielder Beletti comes forward, and scores after a corner kick. 1 - 0. This, after Anelka, yet again, misses a cert goal, as in earlier matches. He has simply not settled in.  Chelsea unbeaten, since December 2007 ( Arsenal, Gallas, 0 - 1). GOAL ! Spurs, Bent scores. 1 - 1 on the stroke of HT. Malouda on for J. Cole, as the Italian England manager, Capello looks on. England soon to face two challenging games. John Terry has been confirmed, as their captain. Lampard gets some verbal abuse from the Spurs supporters. At least 9 British players on the field of play. A rare occurrence. Beletti off, Kalou on. Essien will fill his gap. The ex-Chelsea player, Spurs management Poyet looks on. Kalou did attend the Beijing Olympics. Ends honours even. Given Spurs did beat Chelsea in the Carling Cup, but Chelsea's unbeaten home record continues. P.S. Wright-Phillps did go, as predicted, but to Man City, his old club. On his debut today he scored twice in the 3-0 win.
